Course Introduction
In order to protect the Nigerian environment and ecosystem from the ravages associated with climate change and to achieve the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria signed the country’s climate change bill into law on 18th November 2021. The Climate Change Act (CCA) establishes the National Council on Climate Change which is vested with the powers to develop policies and make decisions on all matters concerning climate change in Nigeria, collaborate with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to develop a mechanism for imposing a carbon tax, and to coordinate the implementation of sectoral targets and guidelines for the regulation of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and other anthropogenic causes of climate change.
The effectiveness of the CCA in engendering tremendous low carbon emission however bank considerably on the compliance and legal frameworks of the CCA, which also determines the inclusive green growth and sustainable economic development and the implementation of Nigeria’s commitment to net zero emissions. Our first-rate and trailblazing training sessions from seasoned experts, with vast subject matter knowledge and field experience would help participants and other critical stakeholders in CCA achieve their deliverables. Furthermore our course would unvaryingly enhance the capacity of the participants in understanding compliance and legal frameworks of CCA that would provide for an ambitious framework for mainstreaming climate actions in line with national development priorities and sets a net-zero targets for 2060.
